How Smart Lock Installer collects, uses and protects your personal data.

Last updated: 28 July 2026

Who we are

Smart Lock Installer is a trading name of Henry Dennis, a sole trader registered for tax in the United Kingdom, operating a smart lock installation service across Greater Manchester and the Northwest. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

You can reach us at [email protected] or on 0161 223 6734.

What we collect

  • When you request a quote: your name, email address, phone number, the property address, the type of property and lock, your preferred date and anything you write in the notes field.
  • When you contact us: your name, email address and the content of your message.
  • Automatically: your IP address and basic technical data needed to serve the site and to rate-limit abuse of our forms.
  • With your consent only: analytics data about how you use the site.

We do not collect payment card details on this website. We do not ask for, and you should not send us, access codes for locks we have not installed.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To respond to your enquiry and carry out work you ask for — performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one.
  • To keep records of installations, including which locks were fitted where — legitimate interests, so we can support and service what we install, and legal obligation for tax records.
  • To protect the site from spam and abuse — legitimate interests.
  • Analytics — consent, which you give or refuse via the cookie banner and can change at any time.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of processors to run the service: a UK/EU cloud hosting provider, an email delivery provider for sending and receiving mail, and — only if you consent — Google Analytics. Where we assign work to a vetted installer in our network, we share only what that installer needs to attend and complete the job: your name, contact details, the address and the job description.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Cookies

Essential cookies keep the site working and protect our forms — these do not require consent. Analytics cookies only load if you press “Accept all”. Choosing “Essential only” means no analytics cookie is ever set. You can clear your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, and you will be asked again.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become jobs: 12 months.
  • Installation and customer records: 6 years after the last job, which is the period HMRC requires business records to be kept.
  • Analytics data: as configured in Google Analytics, currently 14 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis we rely on. Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are rate-limited and bot-checked, and access to enquiry records is restricted to authorised staff accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the data we hold.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
