TTLock is the platform we recommend by default, and the one we know best. We've been specifying, fitting and configuring it for over three years, and we build software directly against its open API. We install other brands too, and we'll say so when one of them is the better answer for your door — but if you want our genuine opinion rather than a menu, this page starts with it.

Three years of using something daily tells you more than any spec sheet. Across that time TTLock has been the platform that kept doing what we needed without drama, and these are the specific reasons we reach for it first.
It was built for changing access
Passcodes that start and stop on a schedule, one-time codes, and per-person credentials are core features rather than extras. That's the whole job for a rental, and it's where household-oriented systems get awkward.
An open API we actually build on
TTLock publishes a documented cloud API. We write software against it directly, which is how a booking can issue and expire a guest's door code by itself. Very few consumer lock brands let anyone do that.
Five ways into the same door
PIN, fingerprint, key card, mechanical key override and app or remote unlock, on one lock. It means we can suit the person using the door rather than making them suit the lock.
It doesn't fall over without WiFi
Timed passcodes are validated by the lock itself, so codes keep working through a broadband outage. A gateway adds remote control and monitoring on top — it isn't a dependency for getting in.
One platform, lots of hardware
Euro-cylinder, multipoint, slim aluminium, internal doors and padlocks all run the same system, so a mixed property doesn't mean mixed apps — and you aren't locked to one manufacturer's range.

A recommendation you can't argue with isn't worth much, so here's the other side of it honestly.
The app is functional rather than beautiful. It's designed around whoever administers access, not around the end user, and some of the translations are clumsy. If the person using the door every day is a long-term tenant or a not-especially-technical household member, a more polished consumer app can genuinely be worth more than the automation.
And because it's a platform rather than a single manufacturer, build quality varies between units running it. That's precisely why which lock you buy matters as much as which platform it runs — and why we specify the unit rather than letting you pick one blind off a marketplace listing.

Five ways to open the same door
A common misconception is that a smart lock means “phone only”, and that a flat battery or a dead phone leaves you locked out. It doesn't. The locks we fit most often support several access methods at once, on the same door, and you choose which ones to hand out to whom.
PIN code
Typed on the keypad. Codes can be permanent, time-limited to a booking window, one-time use, or restricted to certain hours — ideal for guests and cleaners.
Fingerprint
Best for people who use the door every day — owners, long-term tenants, regular staff. Nothing to remember, nothing to carry, nothing to pass on by accident.
Key card or fob
A card or fob you tap on the lock (the same RFID/NFC technology as a hotel key card). Useful for guests who'd rather not use a keypad, and for anyone who finds a code or a smartphone awkward.
Physical key
Most of the locks we fit keep a mechanical key override. It's the backstop nobody expects to need — and the reason a flat battery is an inconvenience, not a lockout.
App and remote unlock
Unlock from your phone over Bluetooth at the door, or from anywhere at all if a gateway is fitted. Properties managed on the tioo.com platform can also let a guest unlock straight from their booking, with no separate lock app to install.
